Committee Minutes
Regular Meeting
March 29th, 2005
7:00 PM
Attending Members: Mike Harnad, Mike Pinatti, Steve Swart, Greg Blessing, Ed Taiman, Joseph Colangelo and Bob Portello. John Sahi was also in attendance.
Meeting called to order at 7:08 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the previous WRC meeting were reviewed. The motion to accept was by Ed Taiman with a second by Steve Swart. Members were unanimous in approval.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
A. It was reported that Principal Harding was looking for a grant writer to assist the WRC, BOE, and Youth Services Department in fundraising efforts.
B. School dances were discussed as a possible WRC function. It was decided that they remain a BOE function.
C. The PTA is donating new outdoor basketball hoops for Hall School through a fundraiser. The WRC will assist with the install.
D. A summer basketball camp will be operated at a cost of $75.00 per participant.
E. Mike Harnad will present a “handbook” for operating the WRC basketball program.
F. Ed Taiman will draft a letter of thanks for donations to the WRC by the local population.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Winter Baseball Clinic was considered a success, but future WRC programs using the Hall School Gym will be conducted with the following considerations; removal of the chin up bar during the event, an easily accessed first aid kit with an active checklist of necessary items, and a written safety plan to expand on our present safety program.
NEW BUSINESS:
The RRAC will be receiving topsoil and fill from a UCONN project. The project’s contractor will donate the soil, trucking, and rough grading.
Hall Pond season passes will increase to $50.00 for 2005.
Bob Portello reviewed a plan for the proper operation of the WRC, which will be followed by a time line at the next meeting.
ADJOURMENT:
There was a motion made by Ed Taiman to adjourn, which Mike Harnad seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8:54PM. The next regular WRC meeting was scheduled for May 3rd, 2005 at 7:00PM.
